While it doesn’t quite feel like fall in D.C., Nick and I celebrated its near arrival this past weekend by attending an Oktoberfest in Dupont Circle at the Heurich Mansion (aka the Brewmaster’s Castle), which was fittingly home to a wealthy brew master in the late-1800s.

We had such a fun time sipping on seasonal brews from Baltimore-based Heavy Seas Brewing Company, dining on authentic German bratwurst and pretzel, and listening to traditional polka music.

We met new friends, who had lived extensively abroad, and not only did they share some travel advice, but they offered to let me try on a piece of their traditional Bavarian costume.

And to complete my Oktoberfest experience, I shared a spirited polka dance with a lively, older Serbian man who had some very fast feet. Prost!
